Dear Oprah,

My mission, "Face Homeless" could make use of some “Pulling Power”. It was an idea inspired by the issue of homelessness suffered by 80’000 people in LA county alone,1.35million children per year in the US. I started working on an idea to do more than just raising awareness. Al Gore tackled the issue of global warming by inspiring people to act rather than be acted upon by government or nature itself. He mad eus care. That is the idea of “A Beggar’s Belief”, a docu-series that inspires us to act because we suggest a solution and lead by example.. The way I hope to do this is as followed:
Take 1 Nobel Prize Winner,2 Nobel Prize Nominees,5 Oscar Winners,9 Oscar Nominees,7 Emmy Award Winners,10 Emmy Award Nominees,9 Grammy Award Winners,13 Grammy Award Nominees ,6 Best-Selling Authors,1 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient (U.S.'s highest civilian honor),1 Knighthood recipient. This is an impressive list, right? What do these all have in common? Fame? Yes. Fortune? Yes. But more importantly, they were all once homeless in their lifetime. This TV documentary (12 episodes 30min, min. each) has three parts. 1. We will introduce one ex-homeless celebrity in each episode to tell their inspiring story on how they overcame their hardship, proving the impossible and showing the infinite talent and potential of any human being. 2. We will follow the Path of six homeless off the street and integration in society again.(They will have chosen the reintegration program of PATH, a holistic approach to "heal" homelessness) 3. Short 1min. clips, introducing individual homeless, their stories, their dreams and how to help them. This will be part of an extenisve, public acessible online database that humanizes the homeless and gives them the face back they deserve.

Part one, an abridged list of our ex-homeless celebrities by name: Jim Carrey, JeanPaul DeJoria, Hilary Swank, Shania Twain, Martin Sheen, Jewel, Kelsey Grammer, John Woo, William Shatner, Heather Mills, Daniel Craig, Lil’ Kim and Drew Carey.
Part two introduces PATH (People Assisting The Homeless, www.epath.org), a 24 in one charity, providing a one-stop-shop for homeless people that is worth making public. They provide everything a homeless needs to get off the street. ”Our homeless” will be part of the PATH program allowing the ultimate transformation. “American Idol” takes the average Joe and turns him into a star, “A Beggar’s Belief” takes a down and out soul and documents his/her raise to become a valuable contributor or even pillar of our society

Part three: Our homeless that are portrayed here will market the show and themselves by being paid to carry signs with the website or TV Showing times on as well as their personal identification number, which allows the viewer to look up the specific homeless, so they can find out why, how and since when the person has been homeless and what his needs may be to be integrated in our society again. The viewer can then directly support the homeless through our site, Path or another Charity, personalizing the relationship between ourselves and the homeless. You may called it !Adopt-a-Homeless”.

The website www.facehomelessness.com will feature the stories of the homeless, how they got there, why and what it might take to help them out. We will be on YouTube, Oprah, Letterman (once homeless himself!) to raise awareness.

I need you! I need pulling power, Oprah behind my project to give this project wings. I have produced documentaries before and have been working on this for a little more than a year. Everybody loves the idea, now I need commitment, money and distribution to move forward. Please call me and I will give you more information.

I commend your work and the healing you do. I want to heal these broken souls and ask to borrow some of your pulling power to kickstart this program into second gear.

Sincerely

Alex Splendore
